The First Harvest
Careful daily mistings have finally produced my first harvest of oyster mushrooms! Some of the caps are huge, others a cluster of tiny growth. I'll be curious to see how the others continue to grow after the first monster was harvested.
Harvesting is as easy as grabbing them firmly and twisting! I cooked these up by simply rough-chopping them and then sauteing them in butter with shallots and garlic. The stalks are a little tough, so I think in the future I'll stick to the caps. Can't beat this for simplicity of growing though!

ReplyDeleteWow, I think that is so cool. May I ask where did you get the kit. I would love to try it.
ReplyDeleteManger: I purchased the kit from a local vendor, but they have a website at: http://www.cascadiamushrooms.com/
ReplyDeleteI believe they can ship around the country.
These are beautiful! How nice to have something home-grown this time of year.
